Einstein fortells The Social Age

Albert Einstein is best know for his work in theoretical physics and mathematics, but due to his fame the man called “genius” often found himself called upon to give commentary on a wide variety of topics from his day. His popularity and influence allowed him to speak, at times provocatively, of the world around him, with no illusion that ignoring politics would make world events fade away.

Here is a comment from Einstein on the need for the global community to come together in compassion. Perhaps he saw The Social Age coming way before I did.

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty”.
