I think we'll see this happen again with energy technologies, too, but it's more socially acceptable for venture backed startupt to innovate and make billions from a patented new energy technology than it is to profit and protect bio-related IP.</description>

		<description>The significance of Jonas Salk "open sourcing" his vaccine cannot be underestimated. We're seeing this more and more -- individuals and entities that are open sourcing processes, data sets, vaccines, software platforms, etc.. It will be interesting to see how the patenting of key genomic discoveries will affect the distribution and availability of potentially life saving new medicines and treatments. What would Jonas Salk have to say?</description>
